LE NINH TIEN v RAINBOW FOREST ENTERPRISES LIMITED & 5 Ors

In a minority oppression suit over a vessel-owning company, the first to fourth defendants applied for security for costs of $100,000 against the foreign claimant under O 9 r 12(1)(a) of the Rules of Court 2021. The court ordered the claimant to provide security of $40,000, finding the claimant was ordinarily resident out of jurisdiction but moderating the amount sought given the early stage of proceedings and the Appendix G costs guidelines.
