About the Singapore International Commercial Court

Part of the Supreme Court

The Singapore International Commercial Court (SICC) is a division of the General Division of the High Court and part of the Supreme Court. It was established in 2015 as a neutral forum for transnational commercial disputes.

Its bench is a panel of international and local judges who are specialist commercial judges. Foreign lawyers may represent parties in some circumstances, if they register with the court. Its procedures can be adapted to the parties' preferences, while keeping court features such as interim measures and a right of appeal.

What it hears

Claims that are international and commercial in nature, as defined in section 18D(1) of the Supreme Court of Judicature Act 1969, and cases connected with international commercial arbitration under section 18D(2). A case can start in the SICC or be transferred to it from the General Division.

Appeals

Appeals against SICC decisions go to the Court of Appeal (the Sixth Schedule to the Supreme Court of Judicature Act 1969); those judgments are cited SGCA(I).
