Vergis S Abraham SC is the Managing Director and Founder of Providence Law Asia LLC, a specialist disputes practice he established in 2012. Appointed Senior Counsel, he has over 25 years of experience in contentious work across Asia, having practised in both Singapore and London. Abraham appears before the Supreme Court of Singapore and the Singapore International Commercial Court, and is an accredited international arbitrator sitting on the panels of SIAC, LCIA, DIFC-LCIA, AIFC, and SCMA.

Between January 2025 and December 2025, Abraham appeared as counsel in 8 cases before Singapore courts, with 5 matters in the High Court, 2 in the Singapore International Commercial Court, and 1 in the Court of Appeal. His recent practice spans arbitration, legal profession matters, civil procedure, and company law. He has grown Providence Law Asia from a specialist counsel practice into a team of over 20 lawyers, including 8 Directors and 2 Foreign Counsel, covering 9 practice areas with dedicated SICC Expertise and Technology Disputes capabilities.

Abraham's portfolio of notable matters includes some of the largest and most complex disputes in Singapore's recent history. He acted for the liquidators of Hin Leong Trading in a liquidation exceeding US$4 billion, represented the founders of Three Arrows Capital in proceedings involving more than US$1.3 billion in frozen assets, and successfully resisted claims exceeding US$1.8 billion in a landmark decision for PDV Marina, a Venezuelan state-owned oil company. Other significant matters include a US$2.4 billion restructuring for Conchubar Aromatics that produced landmark insolvency judgments, lead counsel work in a SIAC arbitration exceeding US$200 million for Future Retail, and the defence of Li Shengwu and Lee Suet Fern in proceedings connected to the Lee Kuan Yew estate.

Named Benchmark Litigation Singapore Lawyer of the Year in 2024, Abraham holds recognition as a Who's Who Legal Thought Leader in commercial litigation, investigations, and arbitration. He was named ALB Managing Partner of the Year in 2019 and has been ranked by Chambers Asia-Pacific, Asialaw, and Legal 500. Beyond his practice, Abraham holds Fellowships with the Singapore Academy of Law and the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, serves on the Ministry of Law's Public Defender's Office Board, is a former Chairman of the Inter-Pacific Bar Association's Legal Practice Committee and the Law Society's Criminal Legal Aid Scheme, and was named a Law Society Pro Bono Ambassador. His pro bono achievements include securing a sentencing reduction from 5 years to 2 days in Chan Kum Hong, a full acquittal after retrial in Yunani bin Abdul Hamid, a rape acquittal in Mohd Ariffan, and the first Bar reinstatement by the Court of Three Judges in over 20 years.
